Halifax Railway Stationto Simm Carr
1) Leave the train station and turn right. Just past the old phone box is an alley.
Follow this for 200m until you are almost facing Halifax Minster.
Turn right along Church St, take the first left and almost immediately turn right down Bank Bottom
2) At the crossroads, go straight over and up the track – Southowram Bank. At the top turn sharp right along Beacon Hill Road and then take the first left up Godley Branch road.
In approximately 150m take the small road up to the right. This leads up to Lister’s road turn left, over the old bridge and then turn right down Horley Green Road. Follow this road alongside playing fields then turn left at the end of the playing fields. Horley Green Road becomes Horley Green lane and leads to a footpath.
3) Follow this footpath northwards for approximately 1.5km to Shibden Mill Inn and cross through the car park to the lane. Turn left along Blake Hill and follow the lane for around 300m to Simm Carr lane.
Walk up Simm Carr Lane for about 300m and the Calder Way is on your right, just before the farm.
Simm Carr to Halifax Railway Station
1) Leave the Calderdale Way at Simm Carr farm. Turn left along the lane for approx. 300m.
Turn left along Blake Hill until you reach Shibden Mill Inn. Walk through the car park to the footpath at the back.
2) Follow the footpath in a southerly direction for approximately 1.5km.
Turn left down Horley Green Road and follow it to the bottom of the playing fields. The road bears right to a junction. Turn left onto Lister’s road, cross the old bridge and walk down the asphalt track just after the bridge. The track exits onto Godley Branch Road. Turn right onto Beacon Hill Road. After about 100m turn sharp right down a cobbled track.
3) At the bottom of the track cross the road onto Bank Bottom. Follow this road to the T junction and turn left. At the roundabout turn right onto Church Street and pass Halifax Minster.
The road curves to the left and there is a signpost pointing along and alley to Halifax station 200m away.
