Getting here
TRAIN. By far the easiest and relaxing way to get here. There are good mainline connections from all over the UK to Leeds, York, Manchester and Preston (and connections from the airports at Manchester and Leeds).
There are regular direct trains to the Heart of the Pennines from Lancashire and Merseyside and from West, North and South Yorkshire.
Our stations are Mytholmroyd, Hebden Bridge, Todmorden and Walsden, with roughly four trains an hour on weekdays and two an hour at weekends.
There are three timetables, so it is usually easier to use National Rail enquiries
08 York via Leeds, Preston to Blackpool North
36 Leeds to Manchester via Dewsbury and Bradford
45 Leeds to Hebden Bridge
BUS There are direct buses from Halifax, Rochdale, Burnley (590-594 & 589) and Bacup (65).
CAR. For sustainability’s sake we recommend public transport, but if you come by car, there are car parks in Todmorden, Hebden Bridge, Mytholmroyd, Luddenden and Hardcastle Crags, but they can get very busy at weekend and market days.
Traveling around while you are here
BUS. We’re well-served by buses which allows you to do linear walks by combining with buses. Plan your journey here.

Or you can come by canal boat from Manchester or Leeds!
This Lithograph by A.F.Tait dated 1845 is from Views of the Manchester & Leeds Railway. It shows the railway and canal winding through the valley at Whiteley Arches, West of Hebden Bridge.

You can pick up the booklets from local outlets
Cycling.
Cycling here is excellent. The National Cycle Route 66 runs mostly along the Rochdale Canal towpath.
